Explained by the power of God

David Platt’s famous quote, “I don’t want to be a part of something that can be explained by my own power and ability, but I want to be a part of something that can only be explained by the power of God,” is one that I have tried to live by. As a Christian, growing up I only ever wanted to please God and make His name known, but as we all can testify, sometimes life gets in the way and life gets busy and complicated. We get in the motions of everyday life and sometimes forget to be a part of something that can only be explained by the power of God. This was a huge struggle that I faced my first year of college. I was so convicted that I was just going through the motions instead of living up to the calling He so heavily placed on my life, so I accepted my call to ministry and moved 10 hours away to pursue that calling.
I decided to embark on a year long journey of residential ministry, where I am being mentored in the area that I feel called to. I’m getting to experience, hands-on, what it is like to work in full-time ministry. As a person who has never worked in ministry before (besides volunteering) I am so overwhelmed that I get to be a part of something that can only be explained by the power of God. It’s like a piece of me was missing until I surrendered my life to full-time ministry. It is such a blessing to be able to go to work every day and serve the Lord, and serve others. This experience for me is not even halfway over, but already I have learned so many vital life lessons that I will never forget. I’ve learned to always put God first and honor Him in every situation, then to put others before myself. I’ve learned that being humble is the most important thing in ministry and that nothing is about me, but its all about God and its all for His glory. I’ve learned that as long as you surrender your heart and your life to Him, you will not fail. I have been so overwhelmed, amazed, and matured by this experience so far and I cannot wait to see where God takes me from here.
